Out with the old...
...and in with the new!
Despite the recent snow making us feel winter was back, Easter is upon us and Spring has officially sprung! As a result, we’re looking to freshen up around here; it’s spring clean time! We're already offering 10% off when you use 'SPRING2018' at the checkout but in case you need a little inspiration, we wanted to share some of the Spring/Summer 2018 trends we just can’t get enough of.
To misquote Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada: “Pastels for Spring? Ground-breaking.” Whether you saw this trend coming or not, it’s still a big one – think gelato colours; almost translucent and jelly-like. Millennial Pink still seems to be on the scene, despite a broodier mauve-grey called ‘Heartwood’ being named Dulux’s Colour of the Year 2018.
Pair your pastels with crisp whites and mixed metallics for a fresh, contemporary vibe, or contrast against dark woods and rich colours for a luxe, vintage feel.
Tropical style is still going to be a popular trend this season, with the pineapple reigning supreme again, and who
doesn’t feel summery with a bit of jungle-greenery in the room? When it’s still too cold to be outside, bring the outside in and create your very own indoor greenhouse. From feathery palms to the faithful succulent, we love all plants; but for trend specific choices, opt for interesting patterns, flashes of colour, and aquatic varieties.
We love ladder-style shelves for making indoor garden areas, like our Nordic Ladder Bookcase; these shelving units are massively versatile for organising and decorating your space.
Angular patterns and sharp lines are a key look for SS18; with the rise of Scandinavian- and Nordic-inspired design, geometric shapes are invading our homes, from triangles to hexagons to you-name-it!
Angular patterns and sharp lines are a key look for SS18; with the rise of Scandinavian- and Nordic-inspired design, geometric shapes are invading our homes, from triangles to hexagons to herringbone. Shape up with edgy angles and bold patterns. The Romano Eiffel Chair has a subtler take on the geometric trend, while the Illusion Prism Rug is a real statement for your room.
In contrast to the delicate pastel tones, expect to see rich, heavily-pigmented colours such as inky blues, bold violets (Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2018 is Ultra Violet), electric pinks, and vibrant teals. If you’re not feeling confident enough to re-paint the living room in bright purple, introduce pops of colour with your soft furnishings and smaller pieces of furniture – easy, affordable, and non-permanent!
Compliment these strong hues with dark woods and luxurious fabrics for extra decadence.
